American Heart Walk at Tempe Lake

My "FIRST WALK" ... I know it is unbelievable. Finally, I have decided to do this. Yesterday I have participated in American Heart Walk. This was my first walk this year, well not really ... this is my first walk like this in my lifetime, but I know there will be many more. It was so much fun. We all should do it.
This year, more than 1 million walkers will participate in more than 450 events, raising funds to save lives from this country's No. 1 and No. 3 killers- heart disease and stroke. Walk with friends, family, co-workers, or strangers you'll bond with along the way. Anyway you choose to do it, your heart will thank you for it. Here we are at the finish line ... and still smiling.

Loving the Loire

Today I have received my monthly magazine "More" and inside was an article on Loire Valley. Place I always wanted to see. It needs to be in my "Bucket List".

The Loire Valley is an outstanding cultural landscape of great beauty, containing historic towns, villages and great architectural monuments (the châteaux). Loire Valley, known as "the Garden of France", was the favorite residence of Kings of France during the Renaissance period .They made this peaceful countryside the setting for their dreams.

A Raisin in the Sun at The Herberger Theater

Photo by Peter Jennings/Arizona Theatre Company

Last night my friend took me to see Lorraine Hansberry's play, "A Raisin in the Sun" at The Herberger Theater. It's a play about the dreams and hopes of a black family living in South side Chicago during the 1950s. This was the first play by a black woman to be staged on Broadway. The 1959 production was directed by Lloyd Richards, who was the first black director to have a play on Broadway.

I am not going to go into details what happens, except to say that this is a play packed with emotional drama. We left the theatre commenting on the wonderful performances by the entire cast. Like really good plays, after a short while you stopped noticing that you were watching actors and instead it seemed as though you were watching the lives of people from years ago.
Yhe immediacy of a play just can't be duplicated in film. It is truly something that must be experienced in person. So, if you can, I'd suggest you head on down and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Botanical Garden Chihuly Exhibit

On December 15, 2008 we went to Botanical Garden to see Chihuly: The Nature of Glass Exhibit. The entry session we picked was the one from 4:00pm to 8:00 pm. It was truly magical, every glass sculpture was displayed so beautifully.

3-Day Walk

Let's do something BOLD

The 2009 Arizona Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk November 13 – 15, 2009

Bold ... yes, I have made a commitment to do this 3-day walk. I have never done anything like this before, so this will be a big challenge for me. Every year I would be so amazed by these woman, but would never have guts to do that my self. Until now ... this year ... I am very excited about it.

I hope my friends will join me, my sister, my daughter-in-law, her mother and her sister.

Let's walk the walk!
